I was talking to a friend the other day and she had been introduced to a guy through her family. When she spoke to him he seemed like a nice guy. She told him she liked going out with her friends and her career was important to her. But when his family came to her house to talk about the rishtaa his father stated clearly that girls in their family after marriage could not go out with their friends and the only friend they had was their husband. My friend was trying to make eye contact with the guy to encourage h... Read More

Has anyone seen the movie Trekkies. I think it came out in 1996 the first one and the second one came out about a year or two ago. I really liked how they went all over the world and portrayed all the Startrek fans in different parts of the world, and I was amazed that fans actually existed in all those places. Good movie
May 5, 2005 at 5:04pmi saw it. it was a hoot and a half. i really enjoyed it as well.

Salam FOBs, Its a pleasure to be in the company of so many of you. For the first time, I've seen so many FOBs other than outside Pakistani restaurants, Seven Eleven's, or gas stations, sipping tea, eating paan, and smoking cigarettes. FOBs are cool. At least, they're not fake like some people (you know who you are!) Enjai!
May 20, 2005 at 12:24amI agree charismatic. we're not cheapsters who collect money after dinners :) How about a thread for FOB Positives?

Salam, I think Ustad Jee had the greatest voice I've heard so far. I was fortunate to attend two of his concerts in Los Angeles, and they were mind-blowing performances. The way he improvised on his qawwalis and stretched regular 10 min qawwalis into long 45 min plus sessions, that was something else! The whole arena/auditorium was in a trance. I miss him dearly.
May 20, 2005 at 12:28amThat's the beauty of Ustad Jee's voice, he doesn't need any synthesizers or new technology gadgets to enhance it. It was 100% pure, raw, talent and gift from God.May 5, 2005 at 10:28amI agree 100%. He was amazing. His live performances cannot be comapred to anyone or anything. I just wonder what he would have done had he been alive with all the new technolo...

Salam Karachi Lovers! Just want to introduce myself in the village. Originally from Karachi, I currently reside in Los Angeles. What can I say, I miss Karachi a lot. To me, its the most happening city in Pakistan. Although a lot of things have changed progressively, the warmth and excitement of the city still remains. I hope we can discuss various aspects of it here. Thanks.

Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother, "Why is the bride dressed in white?" "Because white is the color of happiness and today is the happiest day of her life," her mother tried to explain, keeping it simple. The child thought about this for a moment, then said, "So, why's the groom wearing black?"

A couple had two little boys who were always getting into trouble. Their parents knew that if any mischief occurred in their village, their sons were probably involved. The boys' mother heard that an elder in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her sons. The elder agreed, but asked to see them separately. So, the mother sent her youngest son first, in the morning. The elder, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the boy down and asked him sternly, "Where is... Read More

With my limited cricket knowledge and looking at both teams? performance in the past one-year or so, I observe the following points: Test Matches a) W. Indies has a pretty decent batting side. Its bowling is not that strong though, but its player can take ten wickets during two days if oppositions are not showing patience. b) Pakistan recent success against India shows that it is equal if not more than W.Indies in its strong batting line up, while it has much better bowling attack. The key will be taking ... Read More
