  • i'm thinking of switching from t-mobile to cingular in the near future. (as an aside, i'm not dissatisfied with t-mobile... i'm planning to switch to a family plan so that i can get a 2nd phone line for my mom, and t-mobile has spotty coverage where she lives.) even if i don't switch providers, i'm looking to get a new phone soon. i've owned only two cellphones thus far (nokia and motorola); both were free and of the "candy bar" variety. This type of phone isn't as pocketable as flip phones, but i find th... Read More

  • I just got word that Nasrat Parsa has passed away. Ina Lellah-e Wa Inna Elay-he Raaj'oon I have heard many versions of a story - something along the lines of him actually being beaten by a group of Afghan guys and falling back and hitting his head. Anyhow here is a link to a story, this truly is a tragedy and looks very poor on the Afghan community. Virtual Afghans has learned from its sources in Vancouver, Canada, that Nasrat Parsa, a well known Afghan artist has passed away due to a tragic incide... Read More

  • I came across this article on smartmoney.com, and I thought i'd share it with everyone. It's a bit lengthy, but its worth the read... IT'S ONE THING for husbands and wives to spend freely when they have relatively few responsibilities. But add a small bundle of joy to the equation, and everything changes. In addition to the rent (or mortgage) and car payments, parents must worry about ballet lessons, soccer cleats and, oh yeah, college. It's enough to keep people up at night. Mistakes are inevitable. The g... Read More

  • i'd like to thank the sonics for their great scrimmage. It was nice to get some of the bench players into a real nba playoff game. I also would like to thank gay allen for continuing to show the world how tough he is. Jerome, the trashman, James thanks for showing us how duncan is only the "3rd best center in the league" You almost reached your lofty season averages of 5 pts and 3 rebounds with your incredible 4 pt, 2 rb performance. I doubt that my grandmother could have done much better. The funniest p... Read More

  • My Story - How I Became A Muslim ?Things are made clear through their opposites?........Arabic proverb Nothing makes Truth stand out more clearly than Falsehood! I embraced Islam 6 months after I arrived in the US, thanks to my encounter with Christianity! I was born in India and grew up among people who worshipped many gods and goddesses- the Hindus. At every street and corner in India, you will find temples housing idols of wood, stone, ivory, even gold and silver. I do not come from a Hindu ... Read More

  • Hello I came across an interesting website that I?d like to share with others- it is called zabihah.com and is great way to find markets and restaurants with halal products. Zabihah is the Arabic word for "slaughtered" in the Islamic fashion. The main goal of halal butchering is to avoid any cruel or unnecessary suffering on the part of the animal. You can actually rate halal establishments and verify their authenticity on the site too. I came across a number of places in Los Angeles that I never e... Read More

  • My friends and I have seen the Banned_Comments village, and I just wanna say that I am kind of hurt at some of the comments made there. I was told that Killzone said, "They all the same, just Indians who want to cause trouble." I would respond to him, but I am not connected. Reading all that stuff about book-throwing shocked me... It is counter-productive to engage in name-calling and personal attacks. As Dooba and QRizwan said, this kind of behaviour should stop. I wanted to e-mail you my message just in case y... Read More

  • Salaam. Are there any mechanics here? Or atleast anyone who know how to change the oil. Seems like Car mechanics who work for stores/dealers are SO EXPENSIVE. If anyone in Chicago-land knows how to work on cars (especially BMW M3's), please let me know. I want to learn how to change oil, do minor work, etc. I am willing to pay if someone is willing to teach me. Thanks so much. Or if someone just wants to help, I can buy lunch or so. Thanks.
