Assalamu Alaikum Everyone, Jazakum Allah kheir for joining this village and insha-Allah the discussions we conduct here will be beneficial to all of us. I am a revert to Islam from a Christian Background, and comparative religions is something I had to deal with naturally. When I go to visit my folks overseas, who are still Christian, I often end up getting into discussions and debates about Islam since it is quite misunderstood. I also have gotten into debates with several denominations, including Catholi... Read More

1. If anyone needs a ride up to Hartford for the ICNA conference, let me know. I'll pick you up along the way. I'm coming from the Philadelphia area. ps. If you got a few bucks for tolls/gas, that would nice too. (Hey, man's gotta keep his costs down!) 2. If anyone is in the Hartford Area (i.e. New Haven) and has some floor space to crash on, that would be wonderful. My friends at the Yale MSA are all on vacation! I was thinking I may drive to Boston for one of those nights as well... As you were :)

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take anyword from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here are this year's winners. (None of them get through spell check.) 1.Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with. 2.Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly. 3.Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas... Beauty is that which attracts your soul, and that which loves to give and not to receive. -- Gibran in Khalil_Gibran
Before the Throne of Beauty One heavy day I ran away from the grim face of society and the dizzying clamor of the city and directed my weary step to the spacious alley. I pursued the beckoning course of the rivulet and the musical sounds of the birds until I reached a lonely spot where the flowing branches of the trees prevented the sun from the touching the earth. I stood there, and it was entertaining to my soul - my thirsty soul who had seen naught but the mirage of life instead of its sweetness. I... Read More
