  • I wanted to share my first memory of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It was in Toronto at the Metro Convention Centre. ..not a great place for a concert... 15 years ago. The room was a huge, cave like space with excessively high ceilings...the stage was a make-shift one with rich carpets, microphones placed all around. People stood everywhere, on chairs, on stairs and eventually, everyone had to stand up. One very tall Sikh man, hoisted my young son on to his shoulders, saying 'you have to see the munshie...". I guess... Read More

And really a cool guy...he wanted people to get up and dance to his music...loved that! I did a play once that opened with his "Allah-hu" with some choreography that I did.

You are right about his talents being out of this world :)

  • After belief in God, prayer comes ask the innate function of man and the basis of his worship, for man is subjected to endless calamities and attacked by numerous enemies in spite of his infinite impotence, and has limitless needs and requests in spite of his infinite poverty. Remember how a child expresses his need for something he cannot reach: he either says that he wants it or simply cries, that is, he asks for, in word or in action - in either case with the tongue of his weakness and indeed, reaches his ... • Ramadan is a good occasion to feeling of separation from the material word, in order to feel ourselves nearer to Allah(swt). Something like meditation or a higher state of the mind. There are three famous ingredients for increasing spiritual awareness, they are: Dhikr, fikr and himma. of dhikr and himma we know much, but the Prophet (AS) said of Fikr that one hour in the company of a gnostic has the same value as 70 years of Worship. I mention this because I feel that this is a largely missing ingredient ... Read More

  • ok, i don't know if anyone has addressed this issue already, but has anyone else wondered what has happened to the genre of "beat 'em ups"?? just FYI: "beat 'em ups" are a subclass of the genre "action-adventure" games. In the past, these were all 2D side-scroller fighting games in which you or a friend could team up and fight scores of enemies in a given stage and would then fight a stage boss that would end the stage, and then finally you would move on to the next, repeating the process..the stories for the... • This news was extremely unsettling. Inshallah, Pakistan & India will be able to recover from the horrific damages that were the result of the 7.6 earthquake. However, we all know that much of the good works and help will bypass those who are in need of it the most. Give generously to your friends and family, and don't forget the noble organizations that provide much needed services as well - food, medicine, clothing, education, and temporary shelter. Below are some links. If you know of any other reputabl... Read More

  • Are WE Looking for OUR princess here or are we seeking FORGIVENESS ! Whilst in discussion about the future prospects and current state of this village, I was informed one of the reasons for the growth of this village is: A) by coming to makeups they (people) come across all cool and chill and metrosexual naseebers Particularly guys ? apparently this village has 'Hot' Girls. I honestly :P was dumbfounded , I never thought people thought makeup village was an excuse for that kind... Read More

  • some ppl attrribute the rapid success of makeups to the number of hot women in here. Others have commented that it is a village of substance promoting the qualities of love, peace, harmony, unity and making up....still others have commented that we have the best looking organisers, each one a stud and a hunk to his female admirers... so does this village appeal to ur base instincts or ur higher consciousness, or both??? what does it take to be an interesting and attractive village???
