  • XV in Neruda

I like for you to be still: it is as though you were absent, and you hear me from far away and my voice does not touch you. It seems as though your eyes had flown away and it seems that a kiss had sealed your mouth. As all things are filled with my soul you emerge from the things, filled with my soul. You are like my soul, a butterfly of dream, and you are like the word Melancholy. I like for you to be still, and you seem far away. It sounds as though you were lamenting, a butterfly cooing like a do... Read More

  • How other creations of Allah (swt) praise Him?? I was reading the ayah..... 24:41...Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate, and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and praise. And Allah knows well all that they do. .... and it really got me thinking, how does each of the creation celebrate His praise especially if each creation has it's own unique way of praising Allah (swt). hmmmm Peace

  • Most people I know think I have some gypsy in my blood because I love to travel and I hardly ever let grass grow under my feet in one place, but that's only because they themselves have never been off the block. So I would love to see just how many here have ever been outside of the States. So, where have you been? Peace

    October 23, 2005 at 11:52pm
Well, it's more than me:) Peace

  • Help! My friends are dealing with the roommate from Jahannam(apparently now it's a suburb of Algiers), and I thought a little commiseration might be in order. Folks, if you've got a roommate who's staged a robbery for insurance money, or extorted money from you, or anything else equally heinous, share your stories, so they'd feel a little less isolated.

    October 23, 2005 at 2:51pm
mine was a bit of a *joke* too hehe since ive never visited (A)
    October 23, 2005 at 11:44am
Uh, about the Jahannam comment... it's the Arabic word for hell, and by the way, it is so not meant as an ethnic slur... just a slur on a particularly pernicious roommate.
    October 23, 2005 at 10:48am
i have no idea where jahannam is BUT... i remember back about 10 years ago when i heard about the girl at campus who stabbed to death her roommate and then hanged herself. a...

  • There is an earthquake fundraising iftaar in Shalimar Masjid (Mississauga) tonight held by friends of mine. The money raised will be used to buy tents from China to ship over. Being in Isbd now, I can tell you tents are in great demand. For those that cant make it tonight, there is another fundraiser 'Dinner of Hope' tomorrow, the proceeds will go to IDRF. Message me for details on either.

  • Abu Mas'ud al Ansari said: "A man came to the prophet (p.b.u.h) and said, 'My camel has become exhausted, so give me a mount.' He said, 'I have none. But go to so-and-so and perhaps he will give you one.' He went to that man who gave him a mount. Then the man went back to the prophet (p.b.u.h) and told him of this. The prophet (p.b.u.h) said, 'Whoever guides to good, has the like of the reward of the person who actually does it.'"

  • THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE TRUE IMAM BY THE PROPHET (May Allah?s peace and our salams be unto him, his holy progeny and his faithful companions) By: Syed-Mohsin Naquvi The holy Qur?an established in the story of Hazrat Ibarheem that IMAM is a viable concept in Islam. There is a group of Muslims who accepted that Qur?anic concept as such, there are others who denied that the notion exists. A third group asserts that the presidents, prime ministers and even dictators in various countr... Read More
