Hi, has anybody ever heard a version of chaiyya chaiyya remixed with a Mase song ("lookin at me")? I heard it once I think maybe 5 years ago and I haven't been able to find anyone who has a copy. Monotheism would appeal to me in examination of the unity of nature... Equality of people/races is also appealing for obvious reasons. The deification of humans seems like an obvious pitfall. This leaves to us Islam among the world's major religions. And really Islam isn't a novel thing -- its the old religion of the ancients rekindled by our Prophet... All it says is "It's God, stupid." :)

Hey everyone. Alhamdulillah, just matched to Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston and was wondering if anyone might help me out with housing. Some senior residents have advised me to find a place in Brookline so if someone could throw me a bone I'd really appreciate it. I've lived in NYC since birth and haven't really experienced a situation like this in the past. Boston is a new challenge for me...I just don't want to stress out at the beginning of residency over something like finding a place to live. Thanks!

Has anyone read it? It's now the introductory book on Islam that I recommend to everyone, followed by Karen Armstrong's "Muhammad". Aslan is excellent except for one questionable assumption on page 64; there's no historical evidence that Muhammad ever married Mariyah, his Egyptial slave. She bore him a son, so legally she would have gained the status of "umm walad"; but this isn't the same as being a wife. Karen Armstrong gets that one right.
