  • Being Muslim in the United States poses certain dietary challenges at times.... pepperoni, sausage, bacon... the dreaded pork products... Now, being of Egyptian heritage provides us with an additional... lets just say distinction... I remember every time going to a restuarant my dad pulling the waiter aside and saying... NO BORK IN ANYSING! YOU UNDARSTAND? WE ARE MUSLIM, WE DONT EAT ZA BORK! GO TELL ZA MANAJAR! share your best NO BORK stories here...

  • Have you ever thought about what it must have been like way, way back in the day (pre-running water, pre-softsoap, pre-plastic lota from Target, pre-clean towel, pre-flushing toilet) to grab water from the well in a wooden leaky bucket, carry it to the local hole in the ground, squat over the hole, wash yourself, and then clean your hands with God-knows what ? Thank God we live in the blessed age of running water, indoor plumbing, and plastic lotas...

  • ISNA in NFL

Yo, who's in? I just booked everything and would love to meet up with this crew. Shyt, if we get enough of us, we could probably hold a live draft for our league! Probably not but lets all at least meet up at some point. If you got nothing to do September 2nd to the 5th (labor Day Weekend), come to ISNA. It's my first time and I'm giving up the beach for this but I hear it's cool so lets do this. Holla back if you're going and let me know where you're staying. I'll be at the Emabassy Suites.

    June 20, 2005 at 5:43pm

  • Marriage - Part I Typical macho man married typical good-looking lady and after the wedding, he laid down the following rules: "I'll be home when I want, if I want and at what time I want and I don't expect any hassle from you. I expect a great dinner to be on table unless I tell you that I won't be home for dinner. I'll go hunting, fishing, boozing and card-playing when I want with my old buddies and don't you give me a hard time about it. Those are my rules. Any comments?" His new bride s... Read More

  • We are less than two weeks away from the start of the Pilot Summer Program and do not have nearly enough funds to meet our budget requirements. Impak will go on, but funding may have to come from other sources. As a last resort, my father is open to using his retirement savings to fund the program. A Solution I have a simple proposition that could avoid this tenuous situation: If everyone on this listserv donated $200, Impak's summer program would be fully-funded. That is, as a recipient of this email... Read More
