Salams everyone -- AMILA is looking for hosts for its Sunday Iftar series. This is a great opportunity to share the blessing of Ramadan with the AMILA community. Iftar attendance is normally about 10-25, include both iftar and dinner, of which the dinner part is entirely potluck. If you would like to be a host for a Sunday Iftar, please email me at your ... Someone made this wonderful spinach dip for my walimah and I've been craving for it since. Can someone post a simple recipe on how to make one? I saw one on line, but not sure whether I should use fresh spinach or can I use frozen ones or can I use the stalk or just the leaves. PS. I can't cook very well but then my first attempt in everything isn't that much of a disaster.

Dear villagers, I am back from Lebanon. It was an amazing trip. 1 week is never enough though. For some strange reason it was much harder to leave the country (emotionally) this time. I thought it took 3 weeks to get attached to a place/people. sigh. Back to WORK!

I'm not too thrilled that they want to move to Anaoka county, but as long as they stay true to their MN roots, the lets go and run out the score! Insha'Allah the Vikings will do us proud...poor Twins, they just aren't doing quite so well.... ma3salaama

While I look forward to the Holy and Special Month of Ramadan, I 'fess...I dread at the thought of not having my morning caffeine in the morning right before work. You see, there have been many rapid changes in my company and in recent months, I've been peppifying myself in the morning with caffeine to ensure alertness. No, I dont perform brain surgery, but it is still very important for me to stay wide awake at work, especially these days. So, I ask my fabulous fellow fasting friends, how do you stay... Read More

As Salaamu Alaikum Everyone. This simple yet warm hadith displays the immense compassion that Allah has for us all during the holy month of Ramadan. Thought I would share. Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 31, Number 122: Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened."

Light may be physical, such as the light of the sun or the moon, or intelligible, like the light of the intellect. The latter is that which illuminates the darkness of i... Read More

MINIMIZING TIME ON NASEEB DURING RAMADAN? My opinion is that Ramadan is a time for worship or ibadah. It is a golden unique opportunity to get as many blessings as we can in this finite time. Naseeb, despite being a great resource to meet other Muslims, can take up a lot of time without us realizing it. Ramadan is not just about going hungry, but about submitting ourselves to Allah by abstaining from wordly desires during the day and in the few hours left after iftar, we can get extra blessings through wor...
