  • Iran 'behind attacks on British' Britain has accused Iran of responsibility for explosions which have caused the deaths of all eight UK soldiers killed in Iraq this year. A senior British official, briefing correspondents in London, blamed Iranian Revolutionary Guards. He said they provided the technology to a Shia group in southern Iraq. The Iranians had denied this, he added. While UK officials have hinted at an Iranian link before, this is the first specific allegation to be made. They may f... Read More

  • The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever does not give up telling lies, (committing) evil deeds and speaking harshly to others, God is not in need of his (fasting)." Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 8, Hadith 83 VERSE OF THE DAY: FASTING TEACHES SELF-RESTRAINT "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may learn self-restraint." The Holy Quran, 2:183

  • Please excuse my ignorance, but I know very little about the way that the Quran is believed to have been received. I have heard/read three different (contrasting) stories about what happened and although I'm inclined to believe one over the other two, I was wondering if anyone knew of a book or books that gives the different beliefs of how the Quran came to us and who believes that (as in what sects) and how they came to believe that. Any suggestions???

  • Since you are not a prophet, follow the way taught by prophets. Since you are not a king, be a loyal subject to the king. Since you are not a captain, do not take the helm of the ship. Since you do not possess every skill, have partners in your business. Be as pliant as dough in the hands of others, that you may rise well. -Rumi, "Masnavi"

  • If anyoen is interested, today is Dine for America day. You can check out the list of participating restaurants here: www.dineforamerica.org Certain percentage of their profits will go to help the victims of Katrina and Rita. It's not a bad idea to "eat and help", I think.

It can be restaurant, hukka place, club, coffee shop, theater/cinema or just sit in the balcony sometimes with new book while your favorite music is playing in background. (you can add any place, I just wrote these places to give u an idea).

  • Has it ever happened to you? You are down in the dumps, you dont see any light at the end of the tunnel, all doors are closed and then all of a sudden you feel uplifted, you see things falling into place, you get more than you wanted because you knocked at His door, because you asked the greatest giver of all, because you prostrated in front of Him with tears flowing down your cheeks. Did you ever experience that? When? What? How? Please share if you can.

  • Ramadhaan is a month of countless blessings and virtues. The word Ramadhaan is derived from "ramdh' which means, "burning of the feet from heat" This is because of the fast, which burns the sins of a Muslim into ashes. Ramadhaan has been given the name of blessed month because: 1. In this month, the whole Qur'aan was sent down to the first sky from Lawhe Mahfooz. 2. In this month, there is the night of Qadr, which is better than 1000 months. 3. In this month, the thawaab of good deed is equal to the fard... Read More

  • Wish you all, Ramadan Karem! It is said when you love someone, you would know every little thing he or she says, likes and dislikes. How can we claim to love Allah, yet know very little about His message and gift to us? Ramadan offers the rare opportunity for an intense reflection on the message of the Quran. It is the source of a constant revolution in the lives of millions of those who possess a living heart, as Allah says, "Indeed in this (Quran) there is remembrance for those who have a living heart, list...
