  • Welcome to the HijabMan village. I'll be posting events that I'll be attending, new products, and things you should be aware of --- beyond hijabman. I realize this is a bit silly, but its also a way for my friends and family on naseeb to keep in touch when I'm on the road. After ISNA 2005 I will be leaving the country, God willing, for a number of years, at which point you will not see me at these conferences. My mother will take over my business, and sell from home. You may see her at some conferences t... Read More

  • A couple had only been married for two weeks. The husband, although very much in love, couldn't wait to go out on the town and party with his old buddies. So, he said to his new wife, "Honey, I'll be right back." Where are you going, Coochy Coo?" asked the wife. I'm going to the bar, Pretty Face. I'm going to have a beer." The wife said, "You want a beer, my love?" She opened the door to the refrigerator and showed him 25 different kinds of beer, brands from 12 different countries: Germany, Holland, Japan, ... • Hey guys, Have any of you seen Khamosh Pani? It's an Indian film with Pakistani and Indian actors, and it tells the story of a Sikh woman living in a Pakistani village post-Partition. It also accurately portrays Zia's propagation of Islamic fundamentalist ideas and their negative impact on minority relations in Pakistan. It was really good, you guys should check it out.

It was really good! A must see, addressing General Zia's Islamic Republic of Pakistan. What's lead up to the formation of today's islamic extremist political parties. Also a ver...

  • What it takes on this planet, To make love to each other in peace: Everyone pries under your sheets, Everyone interferes with your loving. They say terrible things About a man and a woman Who, after much milling about All sorts of compunctions, Do something unique ? They both lie with each other in one bed. I ask myself whether frogs Are so furtive, or sneeze as they please, Whether they whisper to each in Swamps about illegitimate frogs Or the joys of amphibious living. I ask myself if bird... • With a chaste heart - with pure eyes - I celebrate your beauty. Holding the leash of blood so that it might leap out And trace your outline while you lie down in my Ode As in a land of forests or in surf, In aromatic loam or in sea music Beautiful nude - Equally beautiful your feet Arched by primeval tap of wind and sound. Your ears, small shells of the splendid American sea. Your breasts, a level plenitude fulfilled by living light. Your flying eyelids of wheat, revealing or enclosing The two... Read More

  • The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recommended the following prayer for those who seek God's help in making a choice or decision: "O God, I ask You to enable me to choose what is best through Your knowledge, and bring it to pass through Your power& O God, if You know that this matter is best for me in my religion, (my) livelihood and my final end, then bring it about and make it easy for me. • Already, you are mine. Rest with your dream inside my dream. Love, grief, labour, must sleep now. Night revolves on invisible wheels and joined to me you are pure as sleeping amber. No one else will sleep with my dream, love. You will go we will go joined by the waters of time. No other one will travel the shadows with me, only you, eternal nature, eternal sun, eternal moon. Already your hands have opened their delicate fists and let fall, without direction, their gentle signs, you eyes enclosing t... Read More

  • It was Wednesday morning and like any other day I was getting ready to go to work, my head full of ideas and inspirations of new 'stuff' I had learnt on the previous days training course ready to share with my colleagues... But do we know whats just round the corner? A few minutes after setting off, I was on the dual carriageway when suddenly a white car merged from the slip road at a speed much slower than my own... The logical thing to do was overtake but there was no gap in the second lane... the ho... Read More

  • I liked: "Khatakta houn main dil-e-yazdaan main kaantay ke tarah....Tuu faqat Allah Hu, Allah Hu, Allah Hu..." It is appropriately translated as: "I strike the heart of Mankind and am the wellspring of the realization that Allah exists....Whereas all you can do is state the repeated load of bullkrap "God exists, God exists, God exists"... Wonderful couplet. What are your favorites?

  • All this talk about Chi-Hydros, has got me thinking...I have rarely met Pakistanis, from Karachi who are Urdu speaking. Most Paki's in Chicago, that I have come across usually speak other languages like Punjabi-Hindko, Pahari,-Potwari,Seraiki,Marwari, Memoni(etc), Sindhi, Balochi, and Pashtu-with ofcourse 300 or so dialects of each. Even though Karachi is in Sindh, we do not speak Sindhi. I'm talking about "Urdu-Speaking Mohajirs-NOT MQM-probaby came from Lucknow or Dilli". Maybe I am having an ABCD moment, but... Read More

  • The Journey By Huma Ahmad Imagine yourself at the moment of your death. What thoughts cross your mind? Memories of family and friends? Panic? Regrets? Remembrance of Allah? What is death? What happens to us after we die? What is life in the Hereafter like, this new and strange world after death? Do we lose consciousness of this life? Where does our soul go? Do we feel and think the same? The ineffable feeling of crossing the boundary between this world and the next cannot be descr... Read More
