The Owner of the Largest Private Collection of Islamic Art Known to Exist Anywhere in The World- in Art
God Is Great Matthew Swibel, 03.28.05 Forbes.com **** Londoners spurned his collection of Islamic art. Now billionaire David Khalili is giving it to them again, whether they want it or not. **** It's hard to know when art maven and real estate investor Nasser David Khalili first felt a craving for legitimacy. Could it have been when his teacher at a Jewish day school in Tehran, Iran ridiculed and flunked him for aspiring to genius? "I was outspoken, and I wanted to prove... Read More

Is the Met's shoot-to-kill policy justified? Jean Charles de Menezes was killed at Stockwell tube station because of a shoot-to-kill policy against suspect suicide bombers. This policy was only revealed after last week's shooting. Bear in mind that similar proposals for combatting IRA terrorism were rejected 20 years ago . From yesterday's Guardian. I just heard that H. Ward of the Steelers may hold out of the training camp because of a contract issue. Currently he is the 37th highest paid WR in the league. C'mon now, even though I can't stand him as a Steeler, but in my opinion he is the best all round receiver in the league. He has made four consecutive Pro Bowls, and still is the 37th highest paid player at his position. Gimme a break. What do you guys think?????

Hey everyone. I'm about to start training as an accountant in Britain. Could anyone tell a bit about what to expect from the industry. Nothing big, for example will it really hard or will it be a problem that I don't drink alcohol (I understand that there is a bit of socializing expected). Contact me however and if anyone doesn't mind chatting to me about this, let me know.

Written by 3amo: Gerry Loughran The Arab appetite for sport is voracious and the menu is titillating. Increasingly, however, the tariff is too high. In a wide-ranging survey of the status of sport in the Arab world, I met several administrators who talked eloquently and eagerly of their specialty, only to add sadly: "Of course, it's a rich man's sport now." Skiing, sailing, shooting, riding and motor rallying all come within this category. But the broader-based sports, aided by increasing internat... Read More

I know that it is fine for one person to propose to another face to face regardless of sex, but would it be 'appropriate' for a girl to ask her parents to arrange a marriage to a boy rather than waiting for the boy's parents to do the arranging? This does not affect me (since I am not a women), but a friend of mine.

As I was walking into work today, I was thinking about all these suicide bombings. Since I have been reading about the life of Rasullah, something occurred to me. Rasullah was a prophet, and had a special connection in understanding Allah's will. Therefore when he said that martyrs (OF HIS TIME) were destined for heaven. That was absolutely true. How can any religious leader today make the same statements to people of today? Maybe there's a fundamental disagreement with how the Quran is interpreted? I t... Read More
