Is the "desi" ideal in terms of what is considered beautiful and most desirable when judging a woman's appearance still light skin colour, soft rounded features, and light eyes as opposed to medium to dark skin tone and sharp/strong features. Feedback from men and women is encouraged.

Actions that have become habits (repeated actions, over and over, without thought) are very likely to be or become addictions. An addiction is when a person cannot stop doing a destructive behaviour even when they know that it's destructive. It's a compulsion to do it, and an obsession with thinking about it. Addictions are more powerful than individuals. It's not a lack of morals. It is not simple laziness. It is disease in the emotions, the mind and the spirit.
June 2, 2005 at 8:38amSure change may be potential to grow but, it could also mean change of scenery too. Like I said addiction is a disease in the emotions, the mind and the spirit.May 31, 2005 at 5:59pmdoesn't change mean the potential to grow? Change of mind- I do it, often, but need data or experience to sort of bring it on or develop what's in the mind. Actually we had a pretty good SASA while I was at AU 1995-1999 (I feel so old) ; I was the President my senior year. We performed at AU several times for Intercultural week, but I think the group got a bit divisive after I left when one crazy guy decided to bring in the element of religious differences and such. And of course, the SASA conference every year was crazy; there were always stories to tell............ahhh, nostalgia:)

OK, not trying to offend anyone here...ok, I'm lying, I'm trying to offend everyone, but equally. What are some of the stereotypes of desis (both abcd and fob) in this vunderful Amaaarka? Not just generally, but specifics? Part of the reason cheap films like ABCD or American Desi strike a funnybone with us is that they make fun of the stereotypes of the different kinds of desis - and we eat it up cos we've all met people like every character in those movies. Like, the uber-FOB TA who brings lunch in a ti... Read More
