  • This Italian film is a must see for all Neruda fans. The musical score, the acting (the man who played the postman in this film, died shortly after they finished filming), the location (this is a fictionalized account of Neruda's real-life political exile in the Italian island of Capri), the poetry, are all simply beautiful. I think it won the Oscar for best foreign film. Check it out. You'll thank me!

  • Here's another one of my favorites by Mr. Neruda: POETRY And it was at that age...Poetry arrived in search of me. I don't know, I don't know where it came from, from winter or a river. I don't know how or when, no, they were not voices, they were not words, nor silence, but from a street I was summoned, from the branches of night, abruptly from the others, among violent fires or returning alone, there I was without a face and it touched me. I did not know what to say, my mouth had no way wi... Read More

  • A lot of people don't like capers, but they're so good. So here is a very simple pasta sauce recipe that may just make you change your mind (if you hated them). I just made it cause i was hungry and in need of something quick. Ingredients: 3 chopped medium sized very soft and ripe tomatoes 1 finely chopped medium sized onion 3 table spoons of capers 1/2 can of tomato paste fresh chopped basil ( i can't say how much but i think i used about 10 leaves) Method: in a large frying pan, add lots ... • A Darkened Theater A strained voice called out through the darkened theater, "Please, is there a doctor in the house?!" Several men stood up as the lights came on. • I went on a 5 week trip to Pakistan recently and fulfilled two 'lifelong' ambitions (seriously), 1) to attend a Pakistani wedding in Pakistan and 2) to visit the archaeological remains of the ancient indus valley civilisation at Harappa. I have other ambitions in life, don't get me wrong, but I'm just happy that a couple of them were finally realised. Any ambitions anyone else has fulfilled lately? ----------------------- Updated Sept '05 Okay, I just got back from my first trip to Egypt. I went to Luxo... Read More

  • Sometimes it can actually be a turn-off when fantasies suddenly become reality. I was wondering why? Why is that so true? Is it just like how the Grass is Greener on the other side or is it that when u reach the other side its already winter and the grass is dead, buried under snow. In the words of Queen Asma (which is me), Sometimes we put in more effort in something that?s superficial and at the end its not productive or not worth the effort. What do u think my fellow Naseebers?
