Science and religion have had a long interaction: some of it has been good and some of it hasn't. As Western science grew, Newtonian mechanics had scientists thinking that everything is predicta... Excellent book! One could classify it as a 'formula' book for today. It expertly captures both the major settings - of the East and West - with a sincerity that's often absent in other writers who seem to force it. There were instances when the writer couldn't help but state the obvious but those were few and far between. There's plenty of other stuff the author leaves to your imagination. And of course, how wonderfully the LINE OF THE BOOK was used! "For you, a thousand times over!" Ri... Read More

Spectator Sports UNDERSTANDING POWER: THE INDISPENSABLE CHOMSKY (pp.98-101) WOMAN: Could you talk a bit more about the role that sports play in the society in de-politicizing people? It seems to me it's more significant than people usually assume. That's an interesting one, actually I don't know all that much about it personally, but just looking at the phenomenon from the outside, it's obvious that professional sports, and non-participation sports generally, play a huge role. I mean, there's no doubt... Read More

This is what I've read lately, in case anyone wants a recommendation (or unrecommendation). The Kite Runner- really good, really touching. Good portrait of Afghan history. The Jane Austen Book Club- I'm in the middle of it, and I haven't decided if I like it yet. On one hand, the characters take Austen a little too seriously, but it is interesting to hear their take about books I used to love when I was younger. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime- it's a murder mystery (sort of) written ... Read More

Last Night Last night your lost memory visited my heart as spring visits the wilderness quietly, as the breeze echoes the silence of her footfalls in the desert, as peace slowly, softly descends on one's sickness. *********** Speak Speak, your lips are free.
