Asalaamu Alaikum my brothers and sisters in Islam. I love this village! You guys have such interesting things to say, mashallah! I love learning as much as I can about being Pataan as I can because my mom is Pataan (please don't be offended if I use the word pataan, although from reading your guys comments, i think a better term is pashtun? It's just that I've grown up using that term, but i don't mean to offend anyone.) I've learned sooo much from you guys, so thank you! However, when one gains more knowle... Read More

One of the major causes of conflict within a relationship stems from that primeval emotion within us all ? ANGER. Some know how to control it better than others, while others just fly off the handle like a stretched elastic band on the end of its tether. While no one expects anger to rear its ugly head when two people are in each other?s space, in fact it can be quite refreshing to let it out sometimes. But the trick is to resolve it before you walk away ? not stew in it until you next come face to face. In m... Read More

13 ways to find out if you?re a lesbian You?re sleeping over at a mate?s house. It?s hot so she gets naked. Do you: a) Keep all your clothes on and hang onto the edge of the bed b) Get undressed too. It sure is hot in here c) Keep your clothes on to start with, but slowly take off layers. Then lie wide awake, awash in streams of cold sweat If we were to tell you most girls have had a playful snog with another girl in their teens you?d say: a) We were lying b) Yeah, so? Everyone does a bit of sexu... Read More

You might expect something unpleasant like tension or hunger to be the most common cause of head pain. In fact, it's something most people are quite fond of: ice cream. One in three people get "brain freeze," known more formally in the medical community as "ice-cream headache." It occurs when any very cold food or drink hits the back of the palate, leading to a stabbing headache usually felt in the front of the head. Pain peaks 30 to 60 seconds after ingesting the cold substance, and eases in 10 to 20 second... Read More

I will paraphrase A_Jalal, who wrote quite audaciously: "As a Sunni, I must say sunnis are devoid of a sense of history. They think Yasid is a fairy tale villan. The whole reason for fundamentalism today is because a) Sunnis didn't bother to realize that there is a politisization of a sunnized version of history and that its homogenized to suit the majority. b) Shia's need to be more literary oriented than oral-tradition focused." I cannot say that I have come across a more succi... Read More

This article was a response to this well-meaning request by a fellow Hanafi brother: ".. it is incumbent people study and learn as much as possible. This being my motivation, therefore, if you could inform me of general sources that you would recommend one read to receive a fair treatment of the differences between the two main schisms , I would be most appreciative.
