One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful hear Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said, "Why your heart is not nearly as beauti... Read More

It amazes me how few people admire the night sky. I remember asking some of my students how many of them enjoy looking at stars. My question was greeted with bizarre looks, one girl even asking: "Why would anyone want to do something like that?" We have lost touch with the heavens above, and in some places, like Sheikh Hamza Yusuf states, the stars have been put out. City lights pour into the night sky, muting the brilliance above. And at the same time, many of us do not even notice. Thus, I was wond... Read More

Was floating through the usual underground alley-ways to get to my train today when the "silent beggar" (who I often give money to) stopped me. He normally doesn't utter a single word, he doesn't even say thank you when you drop the money in the small glass in front of him. He just stands there, swaying from side to side holding up a placard with the hand written word "Help" and a hand drawn picture of a candle. So I was shocked when he grabbed my arm (after I dropped in some money) and then spoke. He said... Read More

Would he be the 'Imam'? Who will be those '12' Imams then you say are in our books? They will be his offspring? What will be Ali's role and Fatimah's, Hassan's and Hussein's, in such a scenario??? Wouldn't the 'caliphate' be in the offspring of Ibrahim ibn Muhammad then? And his mother being Coptic, what would you imagine be the state of Egypt's Copts and Islam, if Hussein's marriage to a Persian emperor's daughter yielded that Shi'ism focus only on Hussein's offspring from that woman & completely ignore Has... Shia, What's the Ruling on Rejecting Imamate of Ali & his Offspring? ~simple question~ in Sunni_Shia
I await the answer, and I think I'll ask also for a reference to a Shia website's fatwa on this, if that's possible. I think this simple question ONLY is fair to ask, after you asked me 100 in that Imam Kazim's post (which I'll answer, trust me; I'll make it my assignment). So yalla, cite for us SUNNIS the answer your scholars give for this question.

There will be inshaallah an unusual conjunction on September 6th, 30mn after sunset. Looking west-southwest. The Moon, Jupiter and Venus. They all will be not far from Spica, the brightest star at the Virgo constellation. What I like with these happenings is you do not need any special equipement. Second, it is a good occasion to show our children the sky. Maybe it will be a start of a good astronomer!!! Tried to insert an image of the sky... Seems like the result is not that satistying. Sorry ever... Read More

The Pastor's Wife Gladys was the preacher's wife and accompanied her husband each Sunday to church. One particular Sunday when the sermon seemed to go on forever, many in the congregation fell asleep. After the service, to be sociable, she walked up to a very sleepy looking gentleman. In an attempt to revive him from his stupor, she extended her hand in greeting, and said, "Hello, I'm Gladys Dunn." To which the gentleman replied, "You're not the only one!" ----------------------------------- ---------... Read More

Hadrath Ayesha's (r) entry onto the battlefield of Jamal was a violation of the Qur'an in Quran_Hadith
The Battle of the Camel (Jamal) Abu Bakr's reign was short, and in 634 C.E. he was succeeded by Umar, as caliph. Umar reigned 10 years, and was then followed by Uthman in 644 C.E. Both of these men had been among Muhammad's earliest followers, were linked to him by clanship and marriage, and had taken prominent parts in various military campaigns. Aisha, in the meantime, lived in Medina and made several pilgrimages to Mecca. In 656 C.E. Uthman was killed by rebellious Muslim soldiers. The rebels then... Read More

Salam. This is my first time on this village; I had no idea it even existed prior to today. Getting to the point, I would like the feedback of fellow Afghans on what they think about the future state of our country in regards to sociological issues. On the other hand, they did indicate that the distance between the rich a... Read More
