Alright without going into much details, for the past two years my faith and beliefs have considerably weakened to the point where I don't perform my salat any longer. I turned into a depressive person on the inside whereas on the outside I still act all normal and even delighted. • An elderly Italian man who lived on the outskirts of Monte Casino went to the local church for confession. When the priest slid open the panel in the confessional, the man said, "Father, during World War II, a beautiful woman knocked on my door and asked me to hide her from the enemy. So I hid her in my attic." The priest replied, "That was a wonderful thing you did, my son! And you have no need to confess that." "It's worse than that, father. She started to repay me with sexual favors." The priest said, "By... Read More

  • An 8-year-old girl went to her dad, who was working in the yard. She said, ''Daddy, what is sex?'' The father was surprised that she would ask such a question, but decided that if she was old enough to ask the question, then she was old enough to get a straight answer. He proceeded to tell her all about the 'birds and the bees.'' When he finished explaining, the little girl was looking at him with her mouth hanging open. Her father said, ''Why did you ask that question, honey?'' She replied, ''Mom tol... Read More

  • CAIR has pledged to raise 10 million dollars to help the support the relief efforts in the wake of Katirna. Muslims need to step up and donate generously and help meet the goal. Also, the epicenter of relief effort is the Islamic Center of Baton Rouge. At this point there are about 150 people in the center. ICNA has pledged 250K dollars to help in that cause. You can go to the icna site and make a donation there or use the following link. icnany.org

  • Forget the "Hustle up the Hancock" 95 floor race. This 103 floor race to the top of the Sears Tower is the ultimate urban climbing challenge. I would highly encourage all the runners to sign up for this. Trust me, it is much easier than it sounds and if you can do the stairmaster for about 25 minutes, you can easily finish this race in that much time. I'd like to know if there are any naseebers doing this race, so please respond to the journal if you are signing up for it. LINK: drcrf.convio.net... Read More

  • i'll be honest, i'm just here to waste time. i have absolutely no ulterior motives. in fact, i sometimes wonder if other people on this site are real representations, or just adopted persona's. they can be just acting out roles for amusement. people do it all the time on chat sites after all, this is hardly any different. characters taht seem like charicatures, or single faceted in their conversational style and harp constantly on single issues tend to fall into my very large "probably not a real p... • Two Penguin titles just got shortlisted for the Booker Prize: Sebastian Barry's A LONG LONG WAY and Zadie Smith's ON BEAUTY. Also shortlisted are Julian Barnes (ARTHUR AND GEORGE), Kazuo Ishiguro (NEVER LET ME GO), John Banville (THE SEA) and Ali Smith (THE ACCIDENTAL). The only book I've read from this list is the Barry. I should read Smith, since she is one of our own. Anyone read any of these guys?
