They say.. "Make love not war" but me thinks, (often) love and war become synonyms... love does have the capacity to cause an awful lot of chaos, disaster and pain. Love = Pleasure War = Pain I think we all, at some point, condition our selves to the concept of getting pleasure out of pain.. it may not even be masochistic.. but merely indulgent. For some, tragedy adds a romantic dimension to the tale. I think love grows out of yearning. Can love grow, or even survive without pain? Are they bound to d... Read More

Our bodies are only one part of who we are as humans. Medicine, before the separation of ?science and religion? was not only about the body, but included the psycho-spiritual make up of humans. The dualism between the body and soul is very clearly evident in the physical world. The body is subservient and the soul is in charge; however both are indispensable. It is just that the soul is the master while the body is the obedient servant. The body has its rights and its demands upon us. However what worth does t... Read More

A runaway trolley is hurtling down the tracks toward five people who will be killed if it proceeds on its present course. You can save these five people by diverting the trolley onto a different set of tracks, one that has only one person on it, but if you do this that person will be killed. Is it morally permissible to turn the trolley and thus prevent five deaths at the cost of one?

abcnews.go.com NEW YORK Dec 9, 2004 ? A British philosophy professor who has been a leading champion of atheism for more than a half-century has changed his mind. He now believes in God more or less based on scientific evidence, and says so on a video released Thursday. ... "I'm thinking of a God very different from the God of the Christian and far and away from the God of Islam, because both are depicted as omnipotent Oriental despots, cosmic Saddam Husseins," he said. Most of us have been in situations where we've made a bargain with God. By that I mean we say we will, for example, be a better muslim, pray more, or do x, y or z as long as He gets us out of the situation we are in at that time. Is it right to do such a thing? Is it right to do such a thing when you kind of know that you won't keep your end of the bargain?

Though I'm entranced by the classic feel of Parineeta...and don't want to shift into moderno gear...I must say I can not wait till the release of Salaam Namaste this Friday! The movie is starring Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan. Saif did an amazing job in Parineeta and Preity did really well in Veer Zaara. I wasn't really crazy about their performances in Kal Ho Na Ho so we'll see if this lives up to the hype.
