My love for you has driven me insane I wander aimlessly the ruins of my life my old self a stranger to me Because of your love I have broken with my past My longing for you keeps me in this moment My passion gives me courage I look for you in my innermost being I used to read the myths of love Now I have become the mythical lover --Jalaluddin Rumi (The love poems of Rumi by Deepak Chopra)

Recently, I had a debate with someone regarding the topic of whether it is "Haram" to have pictures of "people" in your home or on the walls. This topic and similar ones have come up more than once so I thought I would solicit people's opinions on it. In fact, since it came up on another journal (whether or not it was okay to paint pictures of animate objects) to which I responded to I am going to paraphrase my very humble yet long-winded opinion on it here as well. I believe when considering any topic in... Read More

Hi Londoners, i hope you dont forget to vote on Thursday! Incidentally i bumped into tony blair today in a local park in kent, and even thought I generally dislike Blair some how i became mesmerised. I was shocked that Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Clark were wandering around with no body guards and just a couple of camera men. At first i thought they were lookalikes, surely the PM wouldnt walk around with no security...so i went up to him, said hello and asked if i could have a picture and he said of course a... Read More

This has to be one of my best experiences EVER!!! I would highly recommend it to everybody!! You have to try it once. Although I had a bad shoulder afterwards....it was definitely worth the pain. I did a tandem skydive, with a whole ten minutes of training and that was it - up we went! If I had to do it alone, I would have backed out, but once you are hooked up to the instructor there is no turning back. Very cool and a definite must for everyone!!

Inspired by Suhaib's popular beef ribs entry...this one will focus on zabiha foods at popular places. There are a lot of zabiha friendly places and entrees all over Chicago and I figured that we can share our favorites so that we have more options when we are out and about. Check metromix.com for prices and exact locations..this is just a short list of my regularly visited places, please elaborate with your... Read More

Mashallah! This was an excellent event! We go there early and met with former cabinet minister and now president of University of Winnipeg, Lloyd Axworthy and Maher Arar, Human Rights Activist, before the event started. They shared some interesting and valuable insights with us. Their speeches were very good and enlightening and both received standing ovations. Many elected and public officials were at hand for this event, which was good for Muslims in terns of having and establishing better public rela... Read More
